Glossary
Artwork:
This
refers to an image or special decoration you wish to have imprinted on
your pens,
(this
does not pertain to plain text messages using one of our stock fonts). for more

Ball Pen (or
Ballpoint):
A pen whose writing point is a small textured ball bearing that transfers
ink stored
in a cartridge
onto a writing surface.
Barrel:
The writing instrument body which surrounds the ink cartridge.
Cap:
Usually, the removable part of a writing instrument which covers the point.
It also refers to the
upper part of a 2-piece pen, such as BIC
Clic.
Clip/Pocket Clip:
A plastic or metal piece that allows the writing instrument to be secured to
a pocket, card or
binder.
Color Connection:
Create a customized product by mixing and matching different color product
components.
Copy Change:
You can combine minimum quantities of a product and use the lower price for
the total quantity.
Example: 1000 pens; 500 say "Thanks" and 500 say
"Welcome." You can change the imprint copy
on a product as long as
each copy equals the minimum quantity requirement.
Color Change (Imprint):
You can combine minimum quantities of a product and use the lower price for
the total quantity.
Example: 1000 pens; 500 in navy and 500 in red. You can
change the imprint color on a product
as long as each color equals the minimum
quantity requirement.
Color Match (Imprint):
We are able to custom blend imprint inks for you, based on the Pantone®Matching
System (PMS).
However, exact color matches cannot be guaranteed. The charge is
$32.00(F) per each color
match.
Imprint:
This
refers to your personalized text/logo message that will be printed on the pens.
Imprint Area:
The area on a product, with specific dimensions, in which the imprint is
placed.
Imprint Color:
The color used to print your logo and/or copy. Some products allow you to
use multiple colors.
Ink Color Change:
You can combine minimum quantities of a product and change the ink color on
a product as
long as
each color equals the minimum quantity requirement.
Example: 1000 pens; 500 with
blue writing
ink and 500 with black writing ink.
Plunger:
The
spring actuated mechanism that allows the ink cartridge to be retracted back
inside the body
of the
pen by clicking a button on the end of the pen. (Otherwise known as the
clicker).
Pocket Clip Imprint:
Some
pens (mostly retractable pens) have a flat area on the pocket clip that is large
enough
to
place a small one line (text) imprint on it. This option will always increase
the per unit cost
of your
pen. Works very nice for phone numbers & web addresses.
Point
Width:
The tip of the writing instrument which determines the writing width (i.e.
medium, fine or
micro-fine.)
Point Style Change:
You can combine minimum quantities of a product and change the point style
on a product as
long as
each point style equals the minimum quantity
requirement. Example: 1000 pens; 500 with
medium point
and 500 with fine point.
Production Time:
From receipt of complete order or proof approval, the amount of time
it takes for the factory to
print your
order. Does not include shipping time, weekends or holidays.
Section:
The
tapered plastic tip attachment on the very end of the pen.
Trim:
The
components that connect to the writing instrument barrel. Trim typically includes
the cap,
clip, section, etc.
Writing ink Color:
This refers to the color of the ink that is
transferred from the pen cartridge onto
the
writing surface.
